Endocrine

The endocrine system consists of a complex network of glands and organs. Involving tissue that creates and releases hormones that travel in the bloodstream and controls the actions of other cells. The endocrine system influences how your bones and tissue grow, how your heart beats, and whether you develop diabetes, one of the most common disorders within the endocrine system. It utilizes hormones to control your metabolism, reproduction, growth, energy levels, and innate response to injury, stress, and mood.

These organs are directly related to one’s endocrine system:

  • Hypothalamus
  • Pituitary glands
  • Thyroid
  • Pineal body
  • Adrenal glands
  • Thymus
  • Pancreas
  • Testis

Endocrine disorders occur when 3 things happen: 1. Underproduction of a certain hormone, 2. Overproduction of a certain hormone, 3. A hormonal imbalance that affects its ability to function properly. There are many different types of endocrine disorders, the most common being diabetes. The symptoms associated vary greatly depending on the specific gland involved. However, the most common symptoms are fatigue and weakness in the body. We would recommend to do blood and urine testing to determine which hormones are affected, as well as genetic testing and a full panel will be performed to determine the root cause of the problem.
